British Gas is the leading UK company in residential energy services, installation and maintenance. We are the UK’s largest residential energy supplier, and serve around 12 million homes in Britain – nearly half of the country’s homes and one million UK businesses. British Gas is also the largest installer of heating systems through their Home Services division. British Gas installs over 100,000 heating systems per annum. It brings expertise to the consortium in the areas of customer, installation and service requirements. It also enables the consortium to monitor and influence the legislative agenda where this will have an impact on project success (e.g. Smart Meters, Feed-in-Tariff). British Gas will be installing, servicing and repairing the fuel cell products and managing the relationship with the trial customers.

British Gas’ team of almost 13,000 engineers is playing a critical role in making new technologies and products available to our customers, we believe that fuel cell technology could play a key role in the UK and we hope in the future and part enabled by the ene.field project that this will lead to commercially available fuel cells in the UK.
Our role in the ene.field project
We aim to install, monitor and maintain a number of fuel cells as part of the project within the UK using our design and installation capabilities. We hope to work with partner manufacturers to ensure they have the opportunity to install their fuel cells in the UK.
