Today in the public forum of the Hannover Fair, prompted by the European ene.field project, both manufacturers and energy companies were challenged to debate on How Do We Get Government and Industry to Bring New European Technologies to Market? In the debate speakers highlighted the particular advantages of the flexibility of the fuel cell-based micro-CHP products in the future energy network and will follow up the debate in their EU Day session on Wednesday.

The energy landscape is changing rapidly and the energy and climate topics create constantly new market opportunities. One clear development is the drive towards more involvement of end customers in their energy choices. Their critical look at the production and use of electricity and heat at their own home will lead to more customer engagement. Micro FC-CHP can offer a unique combination of heat and electricity generation which is perfectly adapted to the emerging trend in household energy use.

Speaking after the debate, Adrian Richardson, Head of microgeneration at British Gas, said “the home energy market is changing. ene.field is a good example of how market development can be accelerated. By allowing energy companies to participate in early deployment of exciting new technologies we can better position our market offering for the customer”.

The ene.field project is co-funded by the European Commission’s Fuel Cells and Hydrogen Joint Undertaking (FCH-JU), and brings together 26 partners, among whom are the 9 European manufactures that will make the products available across 12 EU Member States
